EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION

Requirements

Deputy Sheriff I (Field Deputy): (Applicants for the position of Field Deputy must normally meet the following criteria)

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be ND P.O.S.T. Board licensed or licensable (Must have attended accredited P.O.S.T. skills / academy training and / or if from out of state must be able to meet the criteria from the ND P.O.S.T. Board)
• Minimum Age of 18 years
• Uncorrected vision of 20/40 or better in each eye, or correctable to 20/20
• Must pass a medical exam conducted by a physician
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Must pass a psychological examination
• Must pass a background investigation (includes a check of school records, credit history, inquiry as to character and reputation, health history, and a fingerprint-based criminal records check)
• Must pass an interview
• Must meet any standards set by law through the ND Peace Officer Standards and Training Board or by the ND Attorney Generals Office.

Applicants Must Perform the Following Steps Before Consideration:

• Complete a written application and submit it
• Sign the appropriate release forms
• Submit to a written test (Must score a minimum of 70%)
• Pass an agility test If selected
• Appear at an interview with the hiring board

If selected, the applicant will be offered a conditional offer of employment and appear for any psychological and physical examinations required (The department shall pay for the examinations)
